Thanks to the energy and passion of the amazing Scott Altman, our mascot Homer officially joined the Miracle League of Las Vegas family on September 23, 2017, making an awesome first-ever appearance on our field for Opening Day of our Fall 2017 Baseball Season. He threw out the ceremonial 1st Pitch as our surprise special guest with Miracle League Cardinals’ player “Bubba” Kaiden behind the plate, and Homer has been a fixture on Game Days ever since.
He’s even been on the ice at T-Mobile Arena with his friend, Chance, at a Vegas Golden Knights game! Homer’s favorite foods are hot dogs, Cracker Jacks and popcorn. His favorite song is Take Me Out to the Ballgame. Homer’s favorite movies are Field of Dreams, A League of Their Own, and The Bad News Bears. And, his favorite Miracle League team is the one that’s playing…
Scott, who just recently moved to Las Vegas and is now Executive Casino Host at Luxor Hotel & Casino, was the Homer mascot for a Miracle League in Michigan. Scott personally raised the money for our very own Homer through a Go-Fund-Me campaign, which Michigan Miracle League fans even donated to in honor of Scott’s efforts at their league. Once we posted his 1st appearance at Miracle League of Las Vegas, the accolades from the Michigan Miracle League poured in; here’s a sample of the comments we received:
Susie Glasgow: We miss you at the Miracle League of Michigan Scott! I am certain that Homer will bring lots of smiles to everyone at the Miracle League of Las Vegas!!
Vic Doucette: You are so fortunate to have Scott as part of your organization. He helped create a million smiles with the Miracle League of Michigan!
There is no doubt Homer will bring much joy to our special players in Las Vegas for years to come… We luv ya Homer (and Scott)!
